Title: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: JLaw on October 20, 2013, 12:11:51 pm Hi,
Has anyone got any engine specs for the old pro turbo car the dragon slayer? Thanks. Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: Fastbrit on October 20, 2013, 13:50:24 pm That car was Dominick Luppino's not Chris Bubetz's.
Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: Udo on October 20, 2013, 14:30:26 pm I think they all had the same engine size 78x94 - CSP , Luppino and Perkins , Bubetz

The car I was thinking of was Chris bubetz blue and white beetle. Wondering what motor setup he ran, didn't sound like most turbo motors you hear today..
Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: Neil Davies on October 20, 2013, 18:05:32 pm I'm pretty sure I read that the Dragon Slayer ran an Fk89 cam with the turbo, which really shouldn't have worked, but quite clearly it did!

Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: JLaw on October 20, 2013, 22:30:49 pm Thanks for digging that out! Was there ever a write up in Hot VW's or VW Trends on the Bubetz car?
Cheers. Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: speedwell on October 21, 2013, 18:57:48 pm any pictures of chris 's car ??? don't remember what it look
Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: JLaw on October 21, 2013, 19:06:56 pm Hey,
Hopefully one of these videos works. I've been searching around for videos and info but still cant find much. The motor sounds very responsive and high revving, I'm guessing it was draw through although it doesn't really sound like any others I've heard. Would love to know a little more about it. http://youtu.be/c6szna2vKmU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6szna2vKmU Cheers. Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: bugnut68 on October 21, 2013, 20:06:23 pm I'm 90 percent certain that Bubetz's car had an engine larger than 78x94, but by no means should I be quoted. The car was featured in a 1997 issue of Hot VWs, I think around July. Doug Harvey's fastback was featured on the August cover as I recall, that year. I'll try to see if I can dig it out when I get home, if somebody else doesn't beat me to it in the meantime.

Now it has a 2,7 pauter turbo engine . but stored in Warren Skaggs garage :-( Hope he gets it back on the track Udo Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: bugnut68 on October 22, 2013, 20:46:22 pm I'm 90 percent certain that Bubetz's car had an engine larger than 78x94, but by no means should I be quoted. I saw the car run in Seattle in the summer of '92, I think it was. Is it a typo? Should it be 1.14? 155mph with a 1.41 4th equals around 11500 - 12500 rpms. I'm sure Dom ran a similar number above and Chris a 8.95 .It was the best Drag race I have ever seen. Awesome. :) Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: Udo on October 25, 2013, 18:52:05 pm that's the old dragon slayer ??? when ken Cervone own it http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AwTwA-1ZG4Q (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AwTwA-1ZG4Q) That is very bad to see. i loved that car .. Title: Re: Chris Bubetz Dragon Slayer Post by: Fiatdude on October 26, 2013, 03:20:38 am I just talked to Jerry and he still has Domonics Dragon Slayer chassis with a body on it at his house and it is for sale -- he said he is accepting offers as it is just taking up room
