Title: genuine 4" centerlines, stock width beam?
Post by: beetletom on October 24, 2013, 11:41:27 am
hi, on my 63 i have refitted a stock width beam  :-*

it has csp disc brakes, with the bolt on caliper mounts

so now the wheels and tyres are flush with the wing lips, but i want to run wider tyres! (it currently runs 145/65's, i nearly crashed my old 71 many times in the wet with these on!!)

would it be better to go for a pair of zero offset centrelines upfront? did they make any with wider backspacing? or only 4" wide aswell?
as i want to run atleast a 165 wide tyre

That combination will not fit. Unless you like fender brakes. The offset wheels will help but you most likely have to space them out around a half inch to clear the calipers.

I have been running the 165's on my bubble fronts .....no problems. with your CSP kit it still may not work.
unless the kit is a zero offset kit. but you may need a 1/4 spacer to clear the caliper.

Bubble centerline's hit the calipers from the csp brake's ...so you need to use spacers  , that won't work to get the wheels in.
My car Has the Same upset only with the 2,5 inch narrowed beam...

The 5" Centerline is available with a better offset than the 4", 2"BS.

11 5503 580
15.0 x 5.0 hi-polish finish
3-3/8" BS

The 3.5" bubble will not clear your caliper without a spacer.

I had Neal discs and still had to run a spacer & clear the caliper.
