It's not got flawless paintwork granted, but if it was mine, I wouldn't paint it Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: speedwell on August 01, 2007, 20:40:29 pm Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: 54Kab on August 02, 2007, 19:24:00 pm Hey Ron, good move buying that Ghia, must admit it had been playing on my mind since I saw the pics... it was a good deal.
You can't go wrong with a black low-light, love 'em.... (http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1560.0;attach=4869;image) ..but when they're done well (as I'm sure yours will be), you can do them whatever colour you like... (http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b268/SteveMortimer/88181.jpg) (http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b268/SteveMortimer/ghiacab58a.jpg) ..being a '56, I'd be tempted to do it the original colour.. did I hear it was black(?) Steve Mortimer Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: Black Sheep on August 03, 2007, 12:47:54 pm Come on Ron, lets see some pic's and see what we're working with here ;D . Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: Black Sheep on August 06, 2007, 20:29:48 pm Nice pics Ron , is that a late pan I see there ? ( ball joint beam's the give away ) . Sorry I didnt make it up at the weekend , think I was being a bit too ambitious , need to balance the carbs and set the timing , what would you set it to , was running 30 degrees advanced on Martins's motor but mine's got a 125 cam with standard rockers on the 041 head's , 26 Degree's ? :-\
Anyway the 901 box I got off Alex seems to be fine ( cheers matey ) and the 2007 running well just needs a bit of tweaking , but after my IDa session with the 2190 loner I think this year father Christmas will be getting rather a long list from me ;) ::) As far as I know the old Dann Zouth Klub is defunct , Ive not been very social with the locals of late . There is another local club Spirit of the air , or something like that , don't know much about it but it seems to have more than its fair share of bay windows ;) maybe we should resurrect the old DZK for old times sake ? Hows Steve bearing up to the treatment ? I know it knocked the shit out of me by the third week ! I will give you guys a bell before I come up . John sends his best regards too and will come over when he's back from his holiday , hes found a new friend in Westons organic vintage cider ;D ;D Keep well Glenn Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: Rocket Ron on August 08, 2007, 19:46:27 pm some more Ghia porn :P :P :P :P

Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: Rocket Ron on October 16, 2007, 09:16:59 am bottom picture looks more like mine ;D ;D ;D
Alex has started the body work and I've located a NOS rear fender for the drivers side which should be an easy fix. He found a bullet hole in the sill when he was grinding back the paint to inspect the sill so its gotsome history :o oh and it was black when it came from the factory so the final colour's sorted. ::) Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: 54Kab on October 16, 2007, 12:17:30 pm mmm, black low-light. Cool. ;D Title: Re: lets see your early cal look ghias Post by: Ovalboy on October 16, 2007, 23:33:55 pm :'(
I resto'd this early Ghia about 6 years ago. It was in the Cal Look style with the exception of the motor, finances at the time meant it had to run with a detailed early style 36hp motor. Oh well!!! It was a 59 that had been imported in from South Africa, which is why I ran S.A Sprintstars on it for a whille. It got featured in Volksworld not long after I had finished it, then a growing family and house move meant it had to go. (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s23/ovalboy/Ghia6.jpg) (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s23/ovalboy/Ghia8.jpg) (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s23/ovalboy/Ghia7.jpg) Sold it about 4 years ago and bought the Oval. Lowlights rock!!!!!!
