Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: Zach Gomulka on December 09, 2013, 12:26:26 pm The first engine picture up there, I wonder what the specs on that was? Had to be a 40hp base, Okrasa dual ports, PII's... But I wonder what it had inside, what the CR was, the cam, etc.
Before it became the IP2 it was such a cool car, I love how it evolved, even through the vinyl roof and big back window phase. It makes me think, if it ever was found, what day in history do you restore it to? Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: alex d on December 09, 2013, 12:44:22 pm what about that fuel system, what's between the (stock!) fuel pump and the carbs?
Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: nicolas on December 09, 2013, 12:54:26 pm what about that fuel system, what's between the (stock!) fuel pump and the carbs? a T- piece/ pressure regulator prehaps? i think you can run a quarter mile on the fuel in the float bowls alone. ;) also look at the picture of the dash, the first location of the tach has been filled with the riveted square plate (look at KS book for a picture when it was still installed) and afterwards there was one mounted again. i also see Russell going to the garage to fit a plate on his car ;D Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: richie on December 09, 2013, 13:01:09 pm what about that fuel system, what's between the (stock!) fuel pump and the carbs? a T- piece/ pressure regulator prehaps? i also see Russell going to the garage to fit a plate on his car ;D Yep looks like a fuel line split to the two carbs, nothing more and its to far away for Russell to mess with now :o Cool pictures, thanks for sharing Alex 8) cheers Richie Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: deano on December 09, 2013, 16:30:55 pm The first engine picture up there, I wonder what the specs on that was? It makes me think, if it ever was found, what day in history do you restore it to? As I recall, that could be Denzel heads.... I thought Denzel heads had rectangular exhaust ports like a 356? I could be wrong though... This also reminds me... The set of 3 early 1950's Ferrari Weber carbs that I bought at the Vegas BOR a few years ago and later sold... They came with some home brew steel manifolds and linkage, so somewhere down the line they were fitted to a VW engine. The old timer I bought them from said that they were on the Inch Pincher, but I kinda rolled my eyes at that one... Could there be any truth to that? I can't remember the exact model, but I do remember they were 38's. Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: Donny B. on December 09, 2013, 17:25:53 pm No crank pulley...?
Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: richie on December 09, 2013, 18:38:03 pm No crank pulley...? it has a VW steel pulley cut right down to just the thick middle piece, Lightning bug 1 was the same, I did one this way for the LB1 replica period engine, there are more similarities between those engines as well but I guess there would be given what was available then :) cheers Richie Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: speedwell on December 09, 2013, 20:27:43 pm The first engine picture up there, I wonder what the specs on that was? Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: Lee.C on December 10, 2013, 00:54:20 am Hmm interesting.....
Its more of a hot rod style "Fuel-Block" I have often wondered why us vw guys don't use this set-up :-\ :) Title: Re: And now some Inch Pincher pictures Post by: 70slooker on December 10, 2013, 02:59:29 am so would that be the econo dealership repair bays in the background, or did the racers have their own section or complete other building?
