Title: CSP IDA crossbar linkage on wide motors with Comp Eliminator manifolds Post by: Phil West on December 15, 2013, 09:35:19 am Has anyone out there managed to successfully fit the CSP crossbar linkage on a super wide motor using comp eliminators.
http://www.csp-shop.com/products/Products/Engine%2CCarburator_Linkages%2CCrossbar_Linkages/22908a/det/ My main concern would be the width - although my motor is not ridiculously wide it's still 84mm stroke with 5.5" rods and those comp manifolds make things even wider. So - would the CSP bar supplied be too narrow on such a motor. Got me worrying about my 90 x 101.6 with 6" rods now :D http://www.csp-shop.com/products/Products/Engine%2CCarburator_Linkages%2CCrossbar_Linkages/22908a/det/ My main concern would be the width - although my motor is not ridiculously wide it's still 84mm stroke with 5.5" rods and those comp manifolds make things even wider. Yes, CE heads with the ordinary short manifolds from CB. I recently fitted one to a 86mm stroke with 6inch rods and flycut heads and had to order a longer rod for it, Gunter helped me out with what I needed but the regular supplied rods weren't long enough[ we used the long rod supplied on the "short side" and a new extra long rod on the other cheers Richie Title: Re: CSP IDA crossbar linkage on wide motors with Comp Eliminator manifolds Post by: Phil West on December 16, 2013, 08:38:10 am Got me worrying about my 90 x 101.6 with 6" rods now :D I've got the CSP centre pull linkage. First off, it's the main crossbar that I was concerned about - did you have to have the crossbar made longer? Or was this motor on a streetcar i.e. with fanshroud etc. it sounds like your only issue was with the linkage rods to the carbs. So you must have started with CSP's short manifold linkage kit which has the longer linkage rods. For my race motor with no generator etc. there's nothing for the main crossbar to hit so crossbar height is not so critical - so I'm thinking the linkage arms shouldn't be a problem. I was referring to the push pull linkage that Nick was worried about, usually on the crossbar linkage its to long and I cut it shorter so you should be fine cheers Richie Title: Re: CSP IDA crossbar linkage on wide motors with Comp Eliminator manifolds Post by: Phil West on January 07, 2014, 10:43:28 am It worked well on my 2332 with 5.5 rods and IDA`s -BB- I just got my CSP kit 129 941 131 and test fit - it does *just* fit. The main limiting crossbar width issue is from the RH linkage arm - in order to get it perfectly vertical I've had to get the RH angle bracket hard up to the right i.e. pinching hard against the return spring. With the LH linkage arm vertical I have about 1/4" spare on the crossbar. So if I hadn't had the flycut heads it would have been pushing the width limit of this linkage kit. Very nice kit though.
