Thanks to everyone's support on the Lounge and with Dean Kirsten and Stephan Szantai plastering my car in 5 different magazines, I've had more than my 15 minutes of fame and am firmly, once again, addicted to VWs again. After finishing the split window, I spent almost a year saving a '76 Westfalia and this winter I've been making many improvements (at least I'm hopeful) to the '51......I know I said that I finished it but I had a fix-it list and a lot of ideas I wanted to try. A long time ago, I was building it a new motor, the car was in pieces and I could hardly wait to drive it again, the goal was my then upcoming 27th birthday. Forty years later I again hoped to drive it on my upcoming birthday........ but it will be another week or two >:(.....come to think of it, I didn't quite make it back then either ;D). Funny story: Ive been into flipping some older MB's and I go on occasion to a parts supply close to my house. Today I went in as usual and ordered some parts and I was talking to "Eddie" and he asked what name will the order be under and so I tell him Dyno Don, and he postured for a moment and gave me this "look" and said "I know you" and became animated with Vw banter. well...after a few minutes he asked me if I knew Marc Buehler and of course I said yes, as I use to frequent by the "Buehler& Lawrence" shop in the 70"s and rubber neck at some of the cool cars there along with the club cars of DRM. He then, with a smile says to me, Marc is my Uncle..!! Needless to say this made my day as we chatted during his lunch and phone skills and found some common ground as he knows someone that puts on events here in O.C. and so I gave him my website info and am looking forward to some doing some more gigs.
