Title: CSP Rear disc conversion.
Post by: puz79 on March 13, 2014, 21:53:25 pm
I'm in the midst of fitting a CSP rear disc set up to my 57 and I'd like some advice!!!

The disc is rubbing against the calliper (see pic) and I'm not sure if it will correct itself when I torque the castle nuts as they're already fairly tight.

Am I being paranoid or does anyone see where I'm going wrong?

I'm thinking a little clearancing is needed -- Don't think I'd trust putting a thin washer in there to space it over -- Maybe a little bend of the bracket would get some clearance, just needs not to touch and your good-- or e-mail CSp and ask them whats up???

I might do exactly that tomorrow. I can't see anything obvious as to why it's happening. They cost a fair bit though so I'm not so happy right now!!!

I think I'd trust an engineered & hardened shim over BENDING any day!

the reasoning behind the bending thing Tom is I've seen the tabs to which the bracket warp thru use & repeated heat cycles -- and we're only talking just a smig of a tweak to bring the bracket/caliper to where it needs to be

you mean you've never put a beating on something that needed it?????? lol

I think the bearing is the culprit... Maybe it's not fully into the recess and that is forcing the hub out a couple of mm.

Any updates on this? Got it fixed?  Going to order mine soon too.

Sorry about the delay in replying... I managed to get it fixed by putting a 1.5mm shim between the adapter plate and the caliper bracket. Worked a treat. Still not really sure why this has happened mind you. i'm convinced that it's something to do with my bug rather than the CSP kit though. It's a really nice set up now, especially the zero offset arrangement.
