Title: get'em sparky! Post by: nicolas on March 26, 2014, 10:50:05 am I know most of us are not using W8AC Bosch plugs in their engines, but what do you use and why. i know the tread and length of the plugs can differ, but it isn't always clear to me which plug to use/when. (heat range, projected tip or not, platinum tip, multiple tips,…)
i have been using NGK B6ES or NGK BR6ES with good results in both the 1776 and 2276, but the question came up again now that i will make the 2007 with a higher CR. both engines are very different in specs, but both have a CR of 8.5 and 8.7. so not only CR plays its part, but cam timing, rpm range, fuel delivery,… must influence it all as well. Title: Re: get'em sparky! Post by: Sarge on March 26, 2014, 23:50:02 pm Bosch W7AC... same as their old number 175T1. Haven't had 'em out in the fourteen years the motor's been together. ;D In the old days when there was more compression, guys ran 225T1 (W6AC)... one step colder. The W8AC is too hot. Title: Re: get'em sparky! Post by: peejke on March 28, 2014, 19:40:14 pm NGK plugs don't like a rich set-up.

Title: Re: get'em sparky! Post by: Cheesepanzer on April 03, 2014, 01:51:43 am Does the type of ignition play into this? For example, a hot street car with say 12 to 1... D8EA's with a typical MSD set-up. Would you need to change if using a Mag?
Title: Re: get'em sparky! Post by: johnl on April 03, 2014, 04:40:09 am I've never had good luck with Bosch and NGKs have never failed me. We sell both so I can have my pick. All of my Detroit Iron use NGK as well as the VWs and the BMWs.
