Title: Hot Wheels or Matchbox Car Charity Collection for Kids with Cancer at Bug-In!
Post by: Susy on March 28, 2014, 04:32:31 am
Please join us, Susy Herbert of PowderPuff Racing and Lisa Piraino of DKK with a charity collection for The Jessie Rees Foundation during the Bug In Weekend.  Recognizing our many friendships within this wonderful community of car enthusiasts, Lisa & I have chosen to organize an effort to help this inspirational foundation reach their goal of collecting 5000 SINGLE pack Matchbox or Hot Wheel Cars for filling their JoyJars.
Website is joyjars.negu.org.

We will be collecting new, unopened, single pack Hot Wheel or Matchbox cars. Single packs have been designated by the foundation so they may fit inside their JoyJars.  5 pack items, can not be collected due to their large size.  Please also be sure that they are in the original blister packaging or they can not be collected or shared with children fighting cancer.  We are hoping to collect an awesome amount of cars to help reach their goal.

The PowderPuff Booth will be collecting donations during Bug In Weekend.  Look for the bright pink PowderPuff awning with the huge blue balloons.

Saturday, April 26th at the DKK Bug-In @ Heroes Event in Fullerton
or
Sunday, April 27th at Bug In 39 at Irwindale Speedway

The Jessie Rees Foundation was inspired by 12 year old Jessie Joy Rees. Jessie was a beautiful, smart and compassionate girl who fought two brain tumors from March 3, 2011 to January 5, 2012.
On that painful day, Jessie left an amazing legacy of love that her family and foundation now continue.

During her 10 month courageous fight, Jessie focused on spreading hope, joy and love to other kids fighting cancer.  She knew that cancer made kids feel lonely and limited.  And so she chose to share her message to
NEGU (Never Ever Give Up).

She stuffed and sent her JoyJars to over 3,000 kids personally.  JoyJars are 64oz plastic jars stuffed full of love and fun age appropriate toys that have now become a symbol of hope, joy and love as they are sent to courageous kids all over the world.

Let’s Do This.  We appreciate your support.

Susy & Lisa

I would like to contribute cars and cash.

Susy , Get in touch with greg britton. Ask him if it would be a good idea to get in touch with Bruce ( With the 57 chevy wagon ) Ww built for Hot Wheels. He paints all of the prototype Hot Wheels and tied into Mattel . He is good friends with Larry Wood the head designer and both are total car guys !! Just a Idea , Hope it helps in some way.

Do you have a Paypal account setup?

My childhood friend was diagnosed with a glioblastomer January 2011 and after 2 operations she's doing well even though most only survive 7 months. It's bad enough for an adult but kids should be playing in the park and not battling cancer.

If not, i'll send a check.

Glenn,

Paypal will take out a percentage.  If anyone would like to write a check, please make it out to Susy Herbert, put Jessie Rees Foundation in the memo.  I will make sure the money gets to the foundation.

We really appreciate all the positive response that we have received from this.  When you write a check, please put in a note saying if you want to donate the money or you would like us to buy cars for the amount.

Thank you all again very much.  This is such a wonderful foundation.  Lisa & I will be doing this every year for them!

:-* Big SHOUT OUT and Thank You to Jeffrey Hicken! :-*
Susy came home yesterday to find two boxes filled with 144 Hot Wheel cars for the event. That's a lot of smiles, Jeffrey!
Thank you for helping the Jessie Rees Foundation spread joy to the many children and families fighting childhood cancer.

Well - I just finished counting all the cars that Lisa & I collected over the weekend for the Jessie Rees Foundation.  We collected 1,827 cars.  Lisa and I really would like to thank you all that brought us and or shipped us cars.  We really appreciate it.  There will be many happy kids with big smiles on their faces.

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!
