Dunno about VWs, but on my bikes and hotrods I've always put throttle switches and the like directly to the throttle rather than at the motor end. Some of the commonly used switches don't like vibration much and can "hum", which screws things up sometimes.
Your Beetle is RHD? Do your Beetles have the cover plate over the throttle cable on the left side of the tunnel like ours over here do? That's where I'm planning to mount mine.
Maybe I'm just being a bit too cautious?

Hey buddy,

We have done this to my set up and works really we'll...! So we went with your idea by mounting a micro switch on the throttle pedal and mounted a 2nd micro switch on the hand brake.

So way it works, micro switch on the hand brake. When in the 'UP' position it activates the 2 step (launch control) and when down activates the 2nd micro switch to then turn on the nitrous controller.

Really love the idea :D
