Title: Camber compensator
Post by: pamo on May 03, 2014, 23:52:47 pm
Hey guys, just wondering the advantages/disadvantages (if any) of running a camber compensator?
I will be running a late 1500 swing axel box with a 150hp 2110 engine in a 63 bug. I am also panning to run MH racemasters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The only disadvantage is, it takes longer to pull trans and you cant run a gusseted trans case with one without some creative engineering.

Thanks john, so it should be fine with a standard box?

Yes. Definitely an improvement.

I've had one on my '66 for years.  It definitely calms down the rear end in high speed sweeping turns.  If you don't drive your car you don't need it.   If you drive your car hard then you'll be glad you have it.

if you're running drag tires, then how concerned are you with going around corners?

If I can improve the handling of a swing axel car I think I should. It will still be a street car, the tyres are probably more for looks than anything else. Thanks for all your help guys.

I got some problems to fit the original bracket to Rancho pro-street gearbox, so I did this kind of bracket.
