Title: MeXXspeed NBAC Billet crank Post by: MeXX on May 16, 2014, 21:21:16 pm Hi
After I broke my crank last year I had to realize that I'm in the need of a stronger solution. Now 8 month later I'm more then proud to release my new designed NBAC billet crank. [attachment=1] [attachment=2] [attachment=3] [attachment=4] just for comparison NBAC vs of the shelf Scat billet crank. Keep on cranking MeXX Title: Re: MeXXspeed NBAC Billet crank Post by: johandryselius on May 16, 2014, 21:31:55 pm Mexx!
VERY nice as also your billet heads! Any new times set yet!? :) Johan Title: Re: MeXXspeed NBAC Billet crank Post by: MeXX on May 16, 2014, 21:48:48 pm Stepping up to larger 65mm main bearing the overlap between main and rod journal was increased from 7.9mm to 10.4.Which is basically even more than a 84mm stroke crank ::) ::)
The main journal radius was increased to 3.2mm. The webs between main journal #3 and rod journal #1 & #4 were increased in thickness from 8.83mm to 9.87mm and in width from 78.15mm to 104.83mm resulting in a square area increase of 50%. The oil bores for the rods were reduced to reinforce the webs and to gain bearing surface. So long MeXX Title: Re: MeXXspeed NBAC Billet crank Post by: bedjo78 on May 17, 2014, 00:42:31 am That is amazing
Title: Re: MeXXspeed NBAC Billet crank Post by: dangerous on May 17, 2014, 03:58:43 am Nice design work Mexx!
Love the curves and extra material right where it needs to be! I went for 4mm radii and 2.75"(about 70mm) mains on mine. 2.2" (about 56mm)rod journals and only 82.5" stroke. I did mine old school, on non-cnc and it took 90hours! ::) (http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n216/dangerous_05/Billet82.jpg) (http://s113.photobucket.com/user/dangerous_05/media/Billet82.jpg.html) Title: Re: MeXXspeed NBAC Billet crank Post by: wph on May 17, 2014, 07:50:11 am Slightly off topic but:
Mexx and dangerous, how did you model counterweights and balancing ? My cousin has a back burner project for his inline Ford engine for which he'd like to machine a stroker billlet crank. and only 82.5" stroke. The fit T1 with a new line bore slightly smaller than T4. The of the shelf bearings come with a thrust bearing similar to T1. will ad a pic soon.... sorry but just got up and it was such a long (great) day yesterdays.
