Title: Weber 48 IDA's, Italian or new spanish one's
Post by: 1957lowlight on August 16, 2007, 21:08:07 pm
Hello guys,

After finally got my beetle able to push the right pedal and really kicking some ass, I, as a true callook fan, want to take it a stap further.  I run a 1915cc engine in my beetle with all the right parts, W120 Eagle cam, Bosch 010, Blue coil, Scat Mini D-port heads, counterweighted crank, straight cut time gearing, ... and for now I run this engine with 40 mm Dell'orto carbs.  As I love the sound of IDA's I would like to change the carbs to 48 IDA's but I don't know which to buy.  Original used Italian IDA's or the now available spanish copy of the 48IDA.  I allways should buy new rather then used as an old friend (enginebuilder) said to me ones " you have to mind two things in live and these are old woman and old carburators"  Has anyone have good or bad experiences with the spanish IDA's?  I know they need some work before you use them (thirth progression hole drilled, ...) and as I run a small capacity engine 37mm venturies will be OK I suppose...

Thanks for your reactions...

Philip
