Title: Engine Plus spare parts help needed Post by: Frallan on June 25, 2014, 12:46:06 pm I have a set of E-Plus (Engine Plus) cylinder heads for TIV.
Recently I noticed some small anomalies on the shafts, just below the locking ring groove. Now I am trying to find 4 replacements with urgency. Engine Plus does not answer..... I know the originals used were out of Mercedes plastic bags. • Size is 41 mm diameter • 7 mm shaft (6.96) • 118 mm long • With the ring groove 3 mm from the top. Any tips on Mercedes source, replacements or a better direct contact with Engine Plus, it would help and be very much appreciated! Title: Re: Engine Plus spare parts help needed Post by: Frallan on June 26, 2014, 09:45:52 am I downloaded the MS catalogue. 3 valve engine. 2002 to 2010.
Now I will just go and buy them and fix the groove. Just for curiosity I will also look for the intake but it must be another engine. I needed that few months ago but ended up buying cutsom made valve from Manley. 50.4 mm and 7 mm stem. Anyway, thanks again! Nice feeling! Maybe Bug Run raceday next weekend in Malmö...... Title: Re: Engine Plus spare parts help needed Post by: No2Laggy on June 27, 2014, 12:47:05 pm hi,
just out of curiosity: why do you have to adjust valve and gooves? afaik you don`t need. just put them in :) i have a set of ep heads as well that`s why i am asking. Title: Re: Engine Plus spare parts help needed Post by: Frallan on June 27, 2014, 13:26:33 pm Hello No2Laggy, thanks for that input. I did not know they were 122 out of the box.
So original EP has stock 122 mm length valve. My heads were bought second hand from USA and the guy was not happy with the EP valves and springs. So he had Crower make a set and also switched to Beehive single springs. I guess his design was to have 4 mm shorter stems. The new Manley intakes that I had made, were copied at 118 mm and the Pauter rockers are now set up for this. Do you have any idea what "original" intakes Josef uses? This is what was in the heads when I bought them. Not enough for my Raptor cam and Pauter rockers. Title: Re: Engine Plus spare parts help needed Post by: No2Laggy on June 27, 2014, 16:47:24 pm hi,
i came out of my garage with a so called "ep" exhaust valve. yes 122 mm, no modification here! your retainers appear kinda small to me in comparison to the springs you are using. i changed to del west retainers (titanium) and to better springs (cb vw650) because some ep retainers failed. btw. i have a new set cb650 spring set and del west retainers left if needed ;) no idea about the intakes. Title: Re: Engine Plus spare parts help needed Post by: Frallan on June 29, 2014, 15:11:11 pm Hi again,
The beehive springs are excellent in many ways. One of them is the small diameter configuration on top. The titanium retainer is only 3 grams. This is Crower spring and retainer. From left is a K750 spring. Then a Comp Cams replecement spring for Chevy LS2 beehive style. Retainer is from PSI in titanium. Then the Crower beehive spring with the 3 gram retainer Then a CB650 with JPM titanium retainer Far right is a Gene Berg double spring Bottom picture is my current modified heads with JPM Oteva 75 Swedish steel springs and JPM titanium retainer. So we have a very similar setup as CB650 and JPM springs are pretty much interchangebale. Good stuff both.
