Title: Aluminium fuel hose and fittings
Post by: UltraOrange67-2443 on July 04, 2014, 14:00:52 pm
Thinking of running a aluminium fuel hose from my filter (after pump) to Y piece on my EFI system.

Anyone know if the fittings can take the pressure?

The type with a olive and no flare are only rates at 50psi.

Cheers, Nick

Are you talking about aluminium hardline fuel hose ?

Goodridge and Krontec both make some. I've got the Krontec and although I don't know the rating, I've had around 140 psi through mine with no leaks.

Thanks
Darren

Hi Darren,
Yes hardline, I've looked at the Russel lines and compression fittings.
I need 1/2" for -8 and 3/8" for -6, Krontec are metric.
Cheers, Nick

Morning

According to this : http://www.interex.co.uk/motorsport/content/assets/Goodridge_Hardline_Cat.pdf ,the working pressure of the aluminium tube is 1375psi. But that's only 8mm bore which would do for the -6.

From memory (I looked into this a while back), 10mm bore for -8 is harder to find.

Thanks
Darren

Hi Darren,
Its not the tube but the fittings I'm worried about, some say for low pressure use only.
Fine on a Carb motor but not for EFI.

Nice job, are they the nut and sleeve type with a 37 degree flare?
Do you know what pressure they are rated at?

Yes nut and sleeve and over 500 psi  so should be fine for fuel pressure lol

Ah yes I understand. Pointless having a 5000psi working pressure line if the fitting is only 5psi rated huh.

Andy - is any of your lovely pipework 10mm bore ? ,or larger ?

Thanks
Darren
