Title: Lotus white '66 beetle (1967 model)
Post by: Lotus66 on July 24, 2014, 00:08:22 am
This is my 1966 '67 model beetle in lotus white.

I will be doing sympathetic repairs and keeping as much original steel as possible.

All the pan needs is cleaning and battery tray area repairing.

The body doesn't need much work. The main areas are drivers channel and removing the late 68- rear valance/hangers/dech lid that have been fitted for correct '67 items.

Got the floor pan welded in today, need to grind welds back and weld a section in where the throttle pedal mount sits.

Floor pan finished and back on 4 wheels.

The gearbox has had new gaiters, csp hub seal kit, clutch fork shaft bush kit and box oil changed.

Fitted new brake cylinders all-round and new drums on the front with new 68-on bearing kits to match dropped spindles. New single circuit master cylinder, New Meyle brake flex hoses, front and rear with new copper brake lines.

Front beam fitted with sway-a-way adjusters, set at standard height.
New Meyle tie-rod ends and balljoints.

Time to move on to the body now

update:-

Managed to get a bit done today. Removed the drivers heater channel and surrounding rust.

pulled the tyres I have out of the shed to have a look.
They are firestone f560 165R15's and Michelin xzx 145R15's
I do like the staggered look of 165's to 145's .

not done much on the beetle, just had my tyres swopped over to 165R15 F560's and 145R15 xzx's
the 145's on the front have filled the arches just right for me so I will be sticking with the 165/145 combo.
