Title: Valve Length Post by: kraftkaefer on September 17, 2014, 12:31:44 pm Hi,
i have a question about valve lengths, because i have to cut some titanium ones to the right lenght to fit in some Angle Flow heads. What are the lenghts of the valves in Autocraft, Pauter.... heads ? Is it the same like in Competition Elis oder Super Flow? 118mm or longer ? Thanks for helping Stefan Title: Re: Valve Length Post by: dangerous on September 17, 2014, 22:46:37 pm Traditionally Autocraft and Pauter heads came with 11/32" stem valves unless custom ordered with some thing else.
The first production runs of Autocraft had valve of length 5.04",(128,016mm) and this is also the length I used in my first Pauter heads. I think it is .100" longer than std small block Chevy (4.94"= 125.476mm), but with a longer .390" tip length above the collet, to allow the retainer to clear the rocker arms. Probably a Windsor ford valve come to think of it! We eventually added .100" to these lengths to make room for better springs and the larger lifts. My current CD heads use a length of 5.340" The valve length you use, will need to be close to the original unless you like to muck around with rocker stud locations to get the correct geometry.
