Title: Piston type/brand ID?
Post by: modnrod on September 26, 2014, 11:59:18 am
Not important at all really, just curiosity.

85.5s, but they seem lighter than most stockers (I think, from memory..........which is crap!  :D).
They have Bras M57 and P865 cast into them.

They came out of an engine built in the mid-70s in California somewhere if that helps (bit of a story how it got out here).

They list the Weight of Piston, piston rings & Pin = 513 grams "Mahle" forged & 563/588 grams for cast so yours are pretty close. http://www.1800vw.bizhosting.com/piston_in.cyl.htm

Thanks Martin. I knew of the weight charts, but I thought the 560-ish was without pins/rings/clips.
I'll put them on the "emergency stocker spares" shelf.
