The running gear will all need to change as well which might make it a compromise though.

I would change the gearbox to a full sync one and otherwise leave it as it is! Beautifull car!

I wouldn't go so wild on the motor - a hot 1776 would be a narrower motor than a 2332, especially with stroker pistons, save cutting the engine bay about. Got to be IDA'd though, whatever size! BRMs I'm not sure about - they're my favourite wheel ever, but I'm just not sure if they'd work with the dark paint. Detailed Fuchs? Ercos? Whatever, it's got be be lowered at the front, and T-bars would be the way forward! Oh, and Lucas indicators instead of the round horn grills - should pretty much fit straight in... ;)

As much as I'd love to see 'something' done to it there is a case for leaving it as it is, for a start with only a few horse power when the time comes the children could learn to drive in it. There is also the fact that it'll make a great 'trojan horse' for gaining entrance to buffer only concourse's, enter that thing and turn up in a blown '47 standard or something similarly stupid. (See if they dock points for the tinware paint not being the right black).

If you do anything to it bin the crappy mechanics and stick a newer pan under it, that old stuff is shit. The only VW's that ever scared me were a '49 and a certain blue '52 deluxe. On the roundabouts we were being out braked and out accelerated by a cyclist and despite the lack of pace it was still terrifying.

 :)

Even a std cab dosen't cool as well as a sedan :-\ standoffs might look a bit odd :D
Haven't you got that scruffy red heb to mess about with ? ;D

beg to differ... but don't do it. not every car has to be a racecar or fast street car.  :-\ if is a real one keep it that way. there are enough cars to built something fast or more 'callook' than this beauty.

BUT it is your car and i would nethertheless like to see a really fast heb...

Oh yes Russell, do it !
And please cut the front end and change it by one piece fiber front , trash convertible top, put a roll cage and add a big block !
It will be a fantastic gasser for next EBI.
Good idea, isn't it ?

Sell it... who wants to have a Hebmüller anyway... they're just plain ugly...  :-X  but that's just my humble opinion...   ;)
I'm glad they didn't make more of those than just a few hundred... ;D  (or am I cursing in church now?)

Anyway.. still CONGRATULATIONS with your purchase!!

Thinking of changing my latest toy, lowered, Brms and a 2332: Yes/No ? ???

Wasn't that already done in Japan in early 90's?

If I remember correctly some DKT member had a white Heb with Sprint Stars, there was a brown Heb with Rostyles in Volksworld and we all know Rich50's GFK Heb and Bob's Teufel-Heb, so it isn't the first hot rodded Heb, so IMO there isn't any point in that.

Only if it would be done to same standard as like Gates of Heaven then it would be cool but it wouldn't be that easy to put back to stock.

Russell,

If it was me I would go with a full on 32hp Okrasa motor, lowered, full synchro gearbox to make it fun to drive & some Fuchs. Leave the rest bone stock. It would be a blast to drive.

wow this is an awesome car!  :o

I would leave it as it is, maybe lower the front a little(not to much) and put a period tuned engine like okrasa, express or a mag or pepco supercharger in the enginebay.

greetings christoph

This looks like a top notch Heb too me Russel I personally would leave it well alone  :-X

But if you have too play Id be inclined to put a Okrasa motor out back with some choice wheels , a monkey with a  turbo we know did have a set of Big wheels in need of some new rims , 8)  alternatively many moons ago I saw a split van in Volksworld who took the centers out of some old 16" wheels and had them grafted into some old 6" steel Showgun rims , the end result would not look out of place on the back of a Heb  8)

How about leaving it as is , but put the big stroke engine in it. Take it to some vintage meet and be ready to call 911 for multiple heartattacks ?

I couldn't touch it myself, Heb's have always been considered sacred to me. There is so much history behind them and they are so scarce. BTW She is beautiful  Russell !!

Here is pic of the Heb from the 07 Classic,
