I open this new topic about old steering wheels.
I'd like to know which is your favorite model ? or which model have you in your car ?
And for you, which is the best model in cal-look car ?
Mine is an original Empi. And you ?

Nardi. I have one in my '67. Classic looks and not as common as the Flat-4/EMPI wheels.

Speedwell. I have 2 of those, and an EMPI GT too. I also like my Perohaus woodrim. Basically any deep dish vintage woodrim is cool, I don't like the flat ones like the above Nardi.

No I'm not a woodrim steering wheel addict...  ::)

Speedwell has got to be my favorite, but I don't think I'll ever get the chance to own one.

Depending on the car, though, a Motolita or Mountney would work just fine.  And lots more accessbile, as well.

Empi GT rosewood. Not as common as the mahogany wheel.

here's mine,  i would like to own a riverside , but very rare  ,if you know one let me known  ;)

I'm running a Nardi, but I bought a Superior 500 the other day and I'm thinking of changing.
Gotta see how it looks first  ;)

But I don't have a favourite, the wheels NEEDS to go with the rest of the interior... Colour of the dash, the shifter etc.

i have a empi and a speedwell and i think the speedwell looks better but the empi feels better to drive and feels stronger than the speedwell

My favorite would have to be the Speedwell with the EMPI horn button.

It's got to be my 15 " Empi wheel.  I got it 10 years ago as a wedding gift from my wife.  I gave her a ring and she gave me an Empi wheel with a not cracked hornbutton.  It's so cool.  I also have a 14" Empi wheel but thats for my Ghia and to me the 15" has more emotional value  ;)

Basically the same wheel, yes.  But sold through Empi, the horn button is embossed with the Empi globe.

I put in thousands of miles behind this wheel in my '66 before I switched to the Flat-4 Empi copy.

I'm pretty tall, so the 14" Rosewood wheel is my favorite.

The wheel came with a textured black plastic horn button.  I had a friend turn the horn button on a lathe to make the hole bigger then we modified a reproduction Oval horn button and fitted it to the wheel.  It wasn't easy as the plastic was flimsy and kept coming out of the chuck on the lathe.  It looked nice when we got it done.  It is a nice wheel with the leather covering.  Someday I will make a table out of it.

but they are so cool... they are "THE WHEEL" because in common immagination, in graphics and icons, and every time people design a steering wheel...the shape is grant. wonderful shape, conic (so deep on 10 inches one), easy to keep in your hand...
and then...what kinda wheel did you grab when you were a little child playing on the little jouster cars-toys at luna-park? answer is 
only one: grant.
a friend of mine put an all black spokes one on his mexico beetle some days ago. it s wonderful...so seventies.

i like motolita too: they are all wonderful....but i have a predilection for model with black leather and satin spokes. just like works rally mini coopers.... just wonderful on a bug with padded dash and black vdos!!!!

This is my favorite, Formuling France and the wheel in my car. Found by my wife on e-bay NOS for 60 bucks in 2006.

my fav is 390mm Nardi woodrim. 360mm is a bit small for me. i like it a lot more than the Flat 4 GT

Yes.

I always wanted an Empi GT steering wheel and finally had the opportunity to buy one at Karmann Konnection back in 1996.
Surprise: When it arrived it turned out to be a 14" - perfect for me, because I am rather tall! I don't want another one in my Ghia!

There is no such thing as a 14" EMPI GT wheel, only 380mm and 400mm.

Funny story about that steering wheel

We bought it at the classics in 2011

Urly in the morning a guy was getting his stuff out of the car. The guy made some gearboxes for living
He had a littele shop and whant to get rite of some stuff that was hanging around and take all of it tho the classic
also the steering wheel .At that point I think around six o clock .. Tim saw the steering wheel. took ith with too hands
Ask the price . The seller said     20 DOLLAR  No joke
