Title: Door Hinge Pin Replacement
Post by: louisb on August 26, 2007, 16:14:41 pm
I am replacing all four hinge pins on the replacement doors for my '67. Taking the old ones out, they were all badly grooved. I bought the first oversize from WW and installed the top one on the driver's side today. Should the hinge be tight now or should I still be able to wiggle the hinge side to side  a bit by hand? I am wondering if I need to go to the second oversize now.

Thanks,

it should move freely once it get a little water on it, it will be to tight and you can end up with a sprung door did you buy the reammer for the hinge pins from WW too?  both pieces of the hige need to be reamed before installing the new pins

Yeah, I got the reamer and did both parts. So it should be a little loose then, okay I was not sure. Thought it would be a bit tighter.

Thanks,

it has to be able to move free because when you get the door on the car they can be real stiff to open and close if they are to tight you will end up breaking the spot welds that hold the Hinge to the door.   By the way Louis I got my 67 Deck lid Back from the Fabracator's LOL  maybe I will put it on as Sneak Peak LMAO " NOT "  Dont want anys copys before my car is done
