Here is my 67 , purchased from BRM Mark on here . Mark imported the car from CA a few years back . It needed 3 very small areas of welding which are now done . The car is to be built on a major budget , a friend will be doing the paintwork , and i will be making most of the bolt on panels will be made by myself in fibreglass . Wheels will be 15x7 douglas spun ali rims on the rear , 13x5 spun ali rims on the front . Colour , maybe the same as Dean Kirstens old 67 , not sure yet . And for the important part , the motor and trans will be the 2180 roller crank and close ratio items from my old race car , Ned Bug . running IDA's and a Mag . Body is off the pan , the pan and heater channels are super solid , I'm even gonna re-use the original floorpan gasket ! Finally made a bonnet for myself , just got to make some rear fenders and engine lid . Current job is stripping off 2 layers of yellow and one Java green . Title: Re: Yet another 67 ! I need a 68 only speedo ( early looking but with a fuel guage ) . Also could do with a LHD speaker grille , the larger one to the left of the speedo . You still got those wooden ones ? Here's some alternative ideas... If it was my car I'd be considering...(Because I've had a few beers..) a late 80's early 90's style aqua ? Porsche Raspberry ( a very brave/drunk choice!) Bright-ass chrome yellow.... A personal favourite Porsche aubergine... The above 80's. /. 90's colour- coded style cal look, but in an anthracite/ mouse / flint grey... I could go on .... Haha! Neil , you read my mind . I never really considered Sea Blue , it is a toss up between VW Blue and VW Indigo . Spent so long studying pictures of Dean's and Tiger's cars . Looking at the colour in different lights ( most of the pictures are in amazing California sunshine ) so its hard to imagine them on a dull overcast day in the UK ! since the first round of hi-build primer and guide coat in the last photo's everything has been block-sanded and tweaked where necessary.... re-primed and blocked out again....every little dash piece, two decklids and number plate light housings, all the wings, etc etc.....we've gone over it all with 3M slow degreaser to enable us to check out how straight its looking.....more boring primer shots i'm afraid, but the paint will arrive on Tuesday.......watch this space.. Engine is in and running , still need to fit the oil cooler under the rear seat and pipe it up , and find the correct length fan belt for the power pulley . Then a test drive ! I asked Richie Webb to go through the motor , just to check it over and see what he thought . Can was way too much for a street car , so Richie recommended an FK8 , fresh barrels n pistons , and pistons dished to drop compression . the SPG roller is still in there , despite Richie's advise to use it as a boat anchor ! To say I'm pleased with the motor now is an understatement , pulls hard from low down even with the light flywheel . I still think I'll paint the muffler black . I never wanted the ceramic coated , but it came up at the right price . I love where the muffler sits tho , nicely tucked under , close to the fender , 4 tuned header helps keep it tucked . I'm not a fan if the big merged systems that have the flange way out back .
