Title: LM-1 and tunning IDF's
Post by: axam48ida on August 28, 2007, 06:52:43 am
I was playing around with my LM-1 and the jetting on a 1679 with 40 idf carbs. jetting is at 115 main, 190 airs, F7 tubes and 45 idles. It reads about 13.7 while running at 60-70 mph depending throttle position and load. my questions are:
should a larger main jet or smaller air jet or larger idle richen it
at that speed.
I think it could use more fuel....but which change will it benifit the
most????
thanks

well i have the same thing... i was working on the 1641 last weekend
i run 115 fuel and 200 air. and i have put in the 45 idles and took out the 50 idles. i think i run F7 tubes or F11. i will check this today if i come around it. but yes i run also with very small jets in my IDF's and runs good. the thing is that 40 IDF's have really small venturies (i think 28mm), the same as 36 IDF's. and that is why i think it only needs to have these small jets. maybe i will go back to the 50 after i have set everything again. i don't want to run to lean as well and destroy something. but this setup has proved to be very good in my car when i did a 3000km vacationtrip with the squareback a couple years ago.
i have located some 32mm venturies and plan on trying these and see what i come up with.
