I originally built this in 1998, but walked away from it in 2003, went back briefly in 2009, but couldn't get the vibe back and it sat on the driveway until this spring. The decision was made to sell it, well that plan went out the window on day one, so I started sorting out the engine, new seats, and assorted other bits. Three months later, back on the road

After the last day out with the bug, the girlfriend was complaining about the noise, the interior had no sound deadening and with the solid mounts, to be fair it was quite grim. So

Having sound deadened the interior, and having a couple of months driving, enjoying the summer, and meeting old friends the decision has been made to rebuild over the winter. Panels have been located, for the repairs and modifications planned, including

Engine bay wise Hookys Hipacs are being fitted and oval window engine bay shelves. The fuel tank is now a under bonnet filler so a new front quarter is being let in to lose the filler flap.

Engine wise I staying with the existing motor, a few modifications are in the pipeline, a lightweight valve train with Scat 1.25 rockers. To give it that bit extra 75-100bhp of nitrous is going to be used with a digital controller.

So Saturday sees the car being delivered to my mates resto shop and Monday I start tearing the car apart.

The deadening mat made a huge difference, it stopped all the panel resonance, I have some more to put in before its back on the road. It's Silent Coat 2mm

Cheers, I tried roof flashing and it was ok but I get a lot of noise from the engine still coming through, heard good things about silent coat! Cheers :)

Before it the interior back in, I have Dodo Barrier MLV to line the firewall, which I'm hoping will quieten it down a little more

I was looking at that and the sound stopped mlv I think it is, looks good for small areas like the boot ect but pricey at £30 a sheet for the whole car ;)

It's the weight too, 5kg a sq/m 😳

What's the replacement lid for?

The roof is to replace the sunroof I cut in when I first built it. I regretted it since I first built the car.

Dropped the bug at the resto shop today, along with the panels required for the project. Monday finish tearing down, Tuesday pull the engine apart. Is the Wizards NO2 kit easier to use than the usual NOS/NX stuff?
Physical size seems smaller to package?

The crossfire injectors are smaller than NOS foggers. The solenoids are designed to be pulsed which are designed around the progressive controller.
So far the technical assistance has been second to none, this system is designed for carbs, and I'm only using a Holley red pump to feed carbs and fuel solenoid. The fuel system does have a pressure switch.
The picture shows the standard 5lb bottle, I'm also going to run a 11lb bottle too in the car next summer.
The progressive controller I'm fitting is the Maximiser, so I can pretty much control every aspect of the delivery of the gas. Ignition is a MSD Streetfire, with the Maximiser taking care of ignition retard.

Two days stripping the car down, all the new panels have been identified and are now on order, the decision to stay true to original cal look rules has been made. The colour has been decided, roll on 2015.
