Title: smaller sprark plug gap for Mag.... why?
Post by: Peter on December 04, 2014, 13:15:26 pm
I ve been thinking about this...
everybody says a mag delivers a hotter spark than whatever...  ;D
Now if that would be the case, why is there the need to decrease the spark plug gap when using a mag?
I thought when the energy is higher, you can increase the plug gap???
Is it to overcome the low energy the mag has when starting ( like low rpm's)

That would make sense and I can't see any other reason, run a test set at say .030" and see how she fires up, I ended up running  025" on my Turbo Rallycross motors, it was never "clean" at .035" gaps.
