Title: What size fititngs for oil breather hose and ends
Post by: Lids on February 07, 2015, 23:19:45 pm
As the title says.  What size fittings should i use as a minimum.  engine is 2332 Cr=10.5:1 Dry sump.

1/2" NPT or -16AN?

Or bigger?

Depends on how much the engine breaths. I would guess a DS engine would breath less.

I would go as big as possible.

Mine is 40mm ~ 1,5"...

Lids - Are you referring to the breather hose from the oil tank to breather tank ?

I am going dry sump too (but only have pump and some fittings so far)

Thanks
Darren

Actually referring to case venting to berg oil filler, but forgot about sump tank venting, so that as well

3 AN-8 lines from both valve covers and the alternator stand

Which is less than a original 1600ccm engine.

Personally I like to went where the "pressure" is created and not the valve covers. If you do a search here on The Lounge you will find plenty of threads where this is discussed (thats the beauty with forums) and you will also find how you can port the inside of the case. I have a 24mm hose on my little engine.

^^^^^^^. This, plenty of case venting is all you need, why go complex? There are just about valid reasons to vent the rocker covers for circuit racing, but with dry sump the best way is to scavenge them.

have a scavenge part of the pump pull oil out of the rockers but you will need more than a 2 stage pump

I am going to run dash 12 for all the hoses, it just now means the berg breather will need modifying and new bungs welded on.
