Post by: big d chop on February 19, 2015, 13:59:08 pm
Hi ,
Im using Gaz coil over shocks on the back of my race car with 140 lbs. springs with standard torsion bars ,but the trouble im having is that its squatting to much when I launch off the line ,
Im trying to find out what poundage of springs people are using as the car is light

Hi mate, it's quiet on this one, but you give zero information on your set up, IRS bars are softer than 12/1300 bars, but I would aim for a combined spring rate of around 950 for a light car with moderate power, 1200 ish lb/ in and up for more full on work, 1200 is average poundage for a circuit car with short 27mm bars,   Any stock 22mm IRS torsion bar is very soft at roughly 500lb, so you would need around about a 26mm t/bar and a 225 lb coil over, or yet bigger 28mm bars and your existing coil overs, look up the exact spring rates and bar sizes required and do your math according to your car specs and weight.      Regards spanner.
