Title: 200hp Street Legal 63 Karmann Ghia Post by: ianmac on February 22, 2015, 19:26:44 pm I am looking to sell my 1963 Ghia, it was built in 1998/99 by The Paintbox for Adrian Bird. The car features a very subtle roof chop 1-1/2" roof in height and 4" in length, the floorpans have been lowered 3" and the seats moved back, there are so many subtle mods to swage line, decklid etc. that it needs to be seen to appreciate the level of work gone into the build.
The car was debuted at the Volksworld Show in 1999 where it took Best of Show, it was featured in probably 7 or 8 magazines around the world, after that it was taken back to Adrian’s house and locked in the garage for about 10 years. Fast forward to around 2009 and after pestering Adrian for years he called me up to say he was building a new project and wanted to sell. I purchased the car and proceeded to fit aluminium front beam and CSP front discs, every suspension component was brand new. At the back I fitted a Rancho pro-street gearbox and Sway-away short HD axles and brand new Erco wheels. The car was then shipped down to Matt Keane (All Torque) where it was fully plumbed out, an awful lot of time was spent fabricating small brackets and parts to ensure that the car functioned as good as it looked. The fuel system has been plumbed in braided hose and black Aeroquip anodised ends throughout from the Jaz Fuel Cell to the 48IDA Weber carbs via a Mallory race fuel pump and billet filter. Matt then built a new 2276cc motor from all new components as follows: New AS41 case clearanced and drilled by Rimco New Scat 82mm crank New Flywheel New 5.5 billet rods New 94mm stroker B and Ps 041 heads built by Jeff Denham with 44x37mm valves which to quote Jeff are 'as wild as street heads get' Cam by JPM Lifters by JPM Autocraft rockers New 48IDA carbs and manifolds matchported New Scat tinware New Alternator Berg bottom pulley Berg Oil Pump CSP pressure relief pump cover 2300lb Kennedy clutch- Hydraulic so drives nice Ceramic coated hideaway exhaust by A1 muffler Compression is 11.5:1 and runs on pump gas Motor was dynoed last week at Rawspeed and was producing 208hp @ 6000rpm ! There are so many things and small details on this car that I could be here forever listing them just silly little things like the throttle pedal linkage, the relocated gearshift and handbrake, the custom built switch panel, the polished Bug tech shifter which has been machined flat on either side and cheese holed, the endless amount of cheese holed panels, the handmade bead rolled panels everywhere, the little cheese holed brackets, the list goes on and on. This car has cost in excess of $100k to build and has never been driven on the street, it has zero miles on the clock. I have realised that I will never use it and I think it is time to pass it on, the beauty of this car is that the colour and look in my opinion are timeless, you could change the wheels, steering wheel and seats and you could totally change the style of the car. The car runs and is ready to drive, it is located in South Devon, England and I am looking for £16,500.00 ono Strictly serious enquiries only Call Ian on +44(0)77489 24444 (http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu311/ianmac2009/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/imagejpg1-4.jpg) (http://s659.photobucket.com/user/ianmac2009/media/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/imagejpg1-4.jpg.html) (http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu311/ianmac2009/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/DSC01292.jpg) (http://s659.photobucket.com/user/ianmac2009/media/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/DSC01292.jpg.html) (http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu311/ianmac2009/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/DSC01288.jpg) (http://s659.photobucket.com/user/ianmac2009/media/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/DSC01288.jpg.html) Title: Re: Fast 63 Karmann Ghia Post by: ianmac on February 22, 2015, 19:30:11 pm (http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu311/ianmac2009/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/imagejpg2-1.jpg) (http://s659.photobucket.com/user/ianmac2009/media/Ghia%20Motor/Ghia%20for%20sale/imagejpg2-1.jpg.html)
