Title: AFR Help
Post by: Garrick Clark on May 03, 2015, 21:41:19 pm
Hi guys
I'm having a lot of trouble getting the AFR right on my turbo type 4.
Basically its in the 10's at low speed round town driving. As revs rise and boost comes in it leans out and reads up to 14.5 under boost which is lean.
I'm using twin 40 Dell's in blow through mode
Nothing I do gets me a leaner mixture at cruise.
I have turbo emulsion tube installed too.
Im thinking of filling the 1st progression hole in the carb and/or adding more holes to the e tubes to lean it out.
It's the same when I run it N/A.
Any ideas guys.
Cause its so easy to get the AFR in the 10s the plugs start failing too.

So you want to lean off in cruise, tried smaller idles? and enrich
top end, assuming you have enough fuel coming in via the needle valve, up the mains, or decrease airs.

Hi Spanners.
Yeh I've tried smaller idles. It likes 55's no smaller. Gone from 180 air to a 160. Still same.

Really rich at idle and down low..........

Blocked idle air jet.
Leaky float.
Fuel level too high.
Worn out idle screws.
Too much fuel pressure out of the regulator would be my first guess (if using a Holley or Malpassi boost-ref).
