Title: Narrowing a beam ? Post by: 71CALRIPPER on September 10, 2007, 08:10:27 am Got hold of an ally Beam for my Project, i am running BAD disc with 4 pot willwood calipers up front. they dont push the ofset out and would be running 3.5 inch Weld wheels. Now do i need to narrow the beam or with the small rims will it be enough to tuck the rims under the wing enough?
Thank you for any thoughts Rob Title: Re: Narrowing a beam ? Post by: benssp on September 10, 2007, 08:54:46 am what's the off set of the wheels rob? ;D
Title: Re: Narrowing a beam ? Post by: 71CALRIPPER on September 10, 2007, 09:05:26 am ah good point will be 0 of set :)
Title: Re: Narrowing a beam ? Post by: 63 ripper on September 10, 2007, 09:13:04 am if they are zero offset (like the c/lines you had and the same as "bubble" ercos) then the calipers won't clear. those bad calipers are massive. you would need big spacers and yes a narrow beam.
Title: Re: Narrowing a beam ? Post by: 71CALRIPPER on September 10, 2007, 09:27:04 am ahhh forgot about that, right so if il find some with minimal ofset welds but you still think i may need to narrow it? pain in the ass to do :)

http://www.cal-look.com/forum/index.php?topic=21343.0 charlie 53 is local to me ;) if you don't use dropped spindles and if those BAD brakes don't increase the track the welds should work. don't you want to swap wheels around though ? Title: Re: Narrowing a beam ? Post by: benssp on September 10, 2007, 09:46:19 am It will also be worth speaking to pete shattock about narrowing them, also modding the frame head to get your caster angle as Pete say's it's a bit of a pain to use shims with them as the beam brackets are solid and not hollow pressed jobbies like the orignal ;D
