Title: dial ins,PBs and the weather Post by: whirligig on June 08, 2015, 21:19:59 pm Well a good weekend at Shakey, had a bit of trouble dialing in due to the tail wind .Breakouts!!!!!! but by 1000ths ,closest was 3thou over .Qualified 8th with a .06 under but ran some PBs 13.98 followed by a 13.91 and that was with a 1.800 60ft. 6th qualifier on Sunday and the weather changed from strong tail to a lightish left to right crosswind. dialled in 14.1 and ran 14.24 with a 1.86 60ft. Went for a run what you brung to check dial before first round but had shit 60ft 1.96 and a 14.38,dont know why. So a 14.2 went up for first round , no good !!! its a new PB for still air a 14.016 with a 1.78 60ft.Found out later the air was 50ft and it went to 100 plus later on when we did a few rwbs and guess what went 14.2 with 1.86 s. Track was cracking good ,lots of peeps ran PBs Mental Breakdown went 7.5 shame more folk didn't turn up.

The track did look great and the tailwind was certainly helping with pb's not so much for helping to dial in. Although the top 12 in sportsman were all within a .10 of their numbers so some very tight competition. Glad you went along and enjoyed it anyway but as you say shame about the rest of the Volkslife show. The track action was what it was all about though and some great runs put in by all.
Title: Re: dial ins,PBs and the weather Post by: modnrod on June 09, 2015, 11:29:53 am Dial-ins can be made really consistent day to night and hot to cold by tuning a bit fat and lazy. Won't set any PBs, but it will get you more rounds to practise on. ;)
It will still be wind-affected but again, not by as much. Keep an eye on the trees/windsock/flags from the line, and if the wind changes then get your brakes ready. Nice times man. 8) |
