Title: Thought I would say hello Post by: paul_bish on October 08, 2015, 15:04:53 pm Ive been lurking since I bought my new bug so thought it was time to say hello.
I recently bought a new bug, a nice 67 Cal Look originally built by Gary Richards and I got of Mike Joy, both members of the Green Hearts Potted history - first car was a 1303 (20 odd years ago), painted guards red, lowered and detailed marathon wheels, then a 1971 that i respired Porsche Rot Brun, sprint starts followed by Polished Fuchs (wish I kept those...) and then went down a Porsche route (currently have a 991 GT3) but hankered after a proper Cal Look beetle and one that was rotting into the ground... I needed something I could play with rather than the GT3 and do some of the shows and some strip action next year. So I got this (http://www.modernforces.com/img/new_site/my_67_5.jpg) (http://www.modernforces.com/img/new_site/my_67_4.jpg) (http://www.modernforces.com/img/new_site/my_67_1.jpg) (http://www.modernforces.com/img/new_site/my_67_2.jpg) (http://www.modernforces.com/img/new_site/my_67_3.jpg) (http://www.modernforces.com/img/new_site/my_67_6.jpg) It's in amazing condition and has a great spec; BHP: 165 Case: CB Mag Compression: 10.1 to 1 Crankshaft: 78mm CB Forged Counterweight Flywheel: CB Rods: CB H-Beam 5.4" Pulley: Berg Heavyweight Clutch Plate: Kennedy Stage 2 Clutch Disc: Daiken Barrels and Pistons: Mahle 94mm Timing Gears: CB Straight Cuts Cam Followers: 30mm CB Lightweight Camshaft: FK10 Pushrods: Manton Chromoly Oil Pump: Schadek with 30mm Berg Relief Cover Cylinder Heads: CB Street Eliminator Valves: 40 x 35.5 Springs: CB Dual Retainers: Chromoly Port Chamber Work: Peter Roberts (Funkenblitz) Rockers: 1.4 to 1 CB Headstuds: 8mm CB Chromoly Weber 48 IDA Open Stacks Venturis: 37mm Bears Close ration gearbox Distributor: Petronix Coil: Petronix Ignitor NGK Plugs Since purchase I have done some simple tweaks, got a spare wheel/tyre, new wipers, redone the idle and also got a full set of 5.5/6 inch Fuchs that I will restore as a spare set (maybe put slicks on this set) and also plan an a Bernard Newbury "Fat Biscuit" interior So hello all Title: Re: Thought I would say hello Post by: Gaz1 on October 08, 2015, 17:08:27 pm Hello ;D
Good choice of car , it's come from a good home , future plans sound good too 8) Title: Re: Thought I would say hello Post by: leec on October 08, 2015, 17:30:07 pm Great car. I remember it when Alex Taylor first got it. I am a huge fan of Bernie's interiors but the interior in your 67 is super.
I would get a set of other seats for Bernie to work his magic on Lee Title: Re: Thought I would say hello Post by: RichardinNZ on October 08, 2015, 20:24:41 pm Really great car...but was thinking the same about the seats. I too recall seeing it when Alex first got it and was amazed at the condition of the interior. I'm not saying don't change them but it'd be good for Bernie to work his magic on some which are currently in poor condition.
Title: Re: Thought I would say hello Post by: Bernard Newbury on October 08, 2015, 20:46:05 pm Hello Paul. What has been said about the seats is best . If they are good then save them and find an old set of seats that would be better, but check that they are not too bad.
