I prefer the ones from Sil Modesti.  They are made to order and made of aluminum.  He welds a flange to the alt. stand and there is an o-ring seal.  They are beautiful.

I agree. Berg breathers leak where they meet the altrnator stand. I have had to have mine tig welded to it to stop the leak.

Sil Modesti is in Phoenix, Arizona USA.  His phone number is 602-265-0401 and he makes them to order.  He is the best tig welder I have ever met and he is an old circle track racer both on bikes and in sprint cars.  Genuine Old School.  He currently has about three VW Bugs.  A great guy and a good friend.

I have a early model just like the one on the Berg's car. ( On my old motor ) I did have a problem oil leaking at first however,  I found out I was not using the original oil cap .( aftermarket )  As soon as I found a correct cap, I had no problems at all...

I believe that Sil charges about $250 for his breather box, but it is made to order and has vents of the size and location you choose.  He also modifies a Alternator stand to accept the breather.  It uses an o-ring seal between the breather and stand for no leaks.  It has two baffles inside and works great!  The one on my car is production number one.  I also had prototype number one on my 1776 that I sold some years ago.  Sil is a good friend and does great work.  Again he can be reached at 602-265-0401.

Thanks Donny! I really like the look... I'm still a long way from needing one but it's good to get my ideas together.

Sil is one hell of a fabricator. I havent got one of his breathers, but he has done numerous small jobs for me over the years. His TIG welding is faultless, makes you want to show off those pretty beads :)
