Title: Antenna conundrum
Post by: vwhelmot on December 30, 2015, 20:36:43 pm
As some of you will know, I'm building a show car and I'm installing a nice period blaupunkt radio. I've bought a nos A pillar mounted Bosch blue tip antenna but my bug is a 64 so will be incorrect for the year. I'm unsure about whether to fit it or not or to try and find a nice quarter mounted antenna but then I thought heck, it's a custom car anyway!  Help me make my mind up.

Who cares about 'year correct' . Build it how you want . I never liked the quarter mounted ones personally .

You'll never hear it above the IDA's anyway !

Cheers , Rob

A load of crap generally , unless its Planet Rock , plenty of Motorhead today !  But you're not gonna pick up a digital station on a vintage radio .

I imported a little Ford Courier pick up recently , got the original radio and single speaker which works . Its also got this little power booster device , which boosts the volume from 1db to about 1.1db .... Its only a little 4 cyl petrol , and it drowns the radio out !

Period perfect blaupunkt Frankfurt with matching speaker. Chromed for extra pleasure. It will be used when I'm polishing the wheels. ;)

How 'bout one of these . . . https://rediscoveradio.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=1&zenid=ff568b36184914e14399ab12efa43328
Forget about an antenna . . . just plug in an Ipod with yer favorite music on it . . . no static or commercials . . . or, stream satellite radio via a Smart Phone . . . it can all be hidden under the cowl panel!  8)

BTW . . . the quality job yer doin' on your '64 is AMAZING!!!!

Corner of the scuttle mounted looks best, but 67 onwards?
