Title: Bosch-Halogen H4-Umbausatz fur VW Käfer mounting question Post by: Martin S. on March 21, 2016, 02:00:40 am I picked these headlights up in Germany back in the 80s, and never installed them since I couldn't figure out how to attach them to the headlight brackets in my 68 bug.
It says right on the box that they should fit but there must be a different bracket in europe. In American bugs the H4 Bosch kit like this didn't have a removable front glass either. Does anyone know where I can get the brackets to fit these to my car? I ordered some LED bulbs to go with them so I'm dying to use the bulbs in these. Not sure if a 68 would, especially if it has genuine wings, it may not have them. I googled the above Bosch kit and came up with some pics and it looks like the euro way to mount them is to the front chrome trim piece, rather than a bracket behind the bulb. Does this pic look familiar to you guys in Europe? The pictures in my first link show an inside ring that I don't have either. Would that be re popped or would I need to find those used?

I installed the LED bulb in one of my Brazil headlight units on my winter bug and took a pic. There are two good reasons to upgrade besides the potential for longer bulb life which remains to be seen. One: less current draw so less stress on your wiring and switch as well as battery. In my bench test, the LED only took a couple amps while the old halogen took almost six. Nice. Also I prefer the white light rather than the warm light for visibility.
