Title: Re: Flat four turbo in a Golf Post by: Neil Davies on October 01, 2007, 12:17:45 pm I can't see any of the pictures at work but the girl I share my industrial unit with has a couple of Golf Cabriolets, so I did a bit of measuring up and I think it would be really tough to fit a flat four behind the rear wheel line - there is virtually no space at all. Even the Fiats have more room! Mid mounted might be better... :o

Volkswagen built a MK2 Golf with two 16V engines, it was raced at the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in 1987 (http://automuseum.volkswagen.de/typo3temp/pics/a73bb7b065.jpg) Title: Re: Flat four turbo in a Golf Post by: BeetleBug on October 02, 2007, 10:36:28 am Hi guys do any of you know any think about this car. (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/gold65turbo/golfflat4turbo.jpg) I have to admit that I think this car is rock hard! And this car would have been A BIG hit at Bug Run Sweden! Title: Re: Flat four turbo in a Golf Post by: deanosvws on October 02, 2007, 11:13:54 am looks pretty tough to me.

Title: Re: Flat four turbo in a Golf Post by: BeetleBug on October 04, 2007, 14:07:10 pm Yupp - the more I look at it the more I like that car. I love the way it stands - way better than any old-school german look I have seen. It`s cool that even a old Golf can look this hard with the right tricks.
This is way off topic since this car do not even have a aircooled engine but talking about looking hard - geezus; Title: Re: Flat four turbo in a Golf Post by: javabug on October 04, 2007, 16:52:20 pm I saw that Vespa a couple years ago at the first Hershey Goodguys show. It is tiny!
Title: Re: Flat four turbo in a Golf Post by: ApeLatex on October 04, 2007, 20:01:36 pm There is a Golf II out where I live that someone has done the engine in the trunk deal.
It's nice, I suppose. But I wouldn't build a car I have no intention of driving. I've ridden in it a few times and it gets hot as hell and can't handle worth a damn... Just a bad idea all around. Not into it. (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/gold65turbo/golfflat4turbo.jpg) Just a victim ;) Click: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OmYhK1BuGU But looks very cool. I saw it in Rotenburg/D and sadly they had "some" problems and that all weekend long. As I know there isn`t an flat four engine installed if I remember right, even note the water-recompensetank on top... Greetz ! |
