Title: Best 8 mm head studs: street-strip Beetle Post by: neil68 on August 16, 2016, 05:12:46 am Had one of my 10-year-old Scat head studs break at the track last weekend. Might be time to replace the set. Hoping to go racing again next weekend and can get these three replacement brands locally. 2332 cc N/A puts out 204 WHP and probably 225 at the flywheel. Any feedback appreciated:

But if you overtight them you can just as well buy new ones... that said, I`m using a bit more torque than recommended. But then again, I dont use thin wall 94`s.

Cheers Phil Title: Re: Best 8 mm head studs: street-strip Beetle Post by: richie on August 16, 2016, 07:32:37 am I've had no problems with Scat 10172 8740 studs at above those HP levels, Richie stocks them. Very nice quality. Cheers Phil I haven't used the CB or CSP ones so cant comment but I did have some problems with Bugpack ones a couple of years ago stretching when I torqued them up, only odd one or two but wasn't good as Phil wrote the Scat 190,000 psi version are really good but if it was me for your engine I would get some genuine old stock german ones from an old case and use them cheers Richie Title: Re: Best 8 mm head studs: street-strip Beetle Post by: Udo on August 16, 2016, 12:55:14 pm CSP are the best - high german quality

Should work well on the street (95% of my driving) and they were also 6 mm longer than the others, which helps with the long rods and JPM head design.
