Title: Mahle gudgeon pin replacement
Post by: leec on September 24, 2016, 20:11:39 pm
I have a really nice set of Mahle stroker B+P's literally 10 miles use.
I bought them and kept them only to find one piston had a gudgeon pin missing.

I have a couple of spare gudgeon pins from other Mahle forged pistons. Can I just swap it in to another piston or is it more complicated?

I don't know what is gudgeon pin (I cannot translate gudgeon to finnish), but I think that you mean a piston wrist pin.

It is good to keep the weight same in all pins. Piston + pin combo weight should be in about 1 gramm in all sets.

Lee, you should be ok as long as your overall weight is the same. I've swapped pins around to balance pistons before.

Thanks guys,
Was always aware of match weighing, just didn't know if you could grab pins from other piston sets
