Title: spring loaded pushrod tubes Post by: pupjoint on October 24, 2016, 14:01:27 pm who makes decent ones nowadays, stock 1600 daily runner has leaky rod tubes, so need to use these spring loaded ones as temporary fix till i have the time to drop the motor and do it properly.

JPM should be the same quality. and fast fab seems to be very decent, but i have no experience, it's what i would buy if i needed some.

The last thing done to help the leaks was to add a machined aluminum spacer to give the spring more strength. Interesting that none of the sellers mention anything about how they fit using longer cylinders. Are long cylinders that unusual? I'd try pulling the spacer out and putting the donut up against the black tube -- The only ones for long cylinders were the ones Roger Crawford made at Head's up (now closed, I got the last set) and I believe Pauter is making some now.... The springs seem weaker than the ones used on the shorter tubes. Martin: Shouldn't the smaller diameter tube's end fit against the head? This would allow oil unhindered flow to the sump rather than pooling at the step where the two tubes join. Yes you're right Dougy! Thanks for pointing that out. One end is larger inside than the other. According to the installation instructions: Please note that the mounting direction of the pushrod tube is essential! The black end of the pushrod tube has a larger inner diameter with is required on high performance engines. When you use large ratio rockers the pushrods move up and down inside the tube to a much larger extent than normal. The larger inner diameter of the CSP pushrod tubes will give extra clearance in this area. |
