Title: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: NoBars on December 18, 2016, 22:07:17 pm Is it just because of the engraving that makes them desirable, or do they fit different than aftermarket? I can see some crimping in my fenders behind the aftermarket rings, and have long wondered if it was because of the rings not covering enough.
Thanks, Anthony. Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: Zach Gomulka on December 18, 2016, 22:49:59 pm They are 67 only Beetle and type 3. Technically I think they were only on early 67's but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: ST DRAGN on December 19, 2016, 04:05:26 am correct 1 year only and the early sedan's came with them..same with type 3.. very desirable for 67 nerds...you already know the answer about aftermarkets stuff..

Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: henk on December 19, 2016, 09:49:41 am How do you identify SB12s then? What should you look for? It is engraved in the headlight rings. Henk!!! Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: NoBars on December 19, 2016, 19:01:01 pm So do they fit differently?
Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: Zach Gomulka on December 19, 2016, 20:19:39 pm So do they fit differently? No. Do you have aftermarket fenders or rings now? Body damage that wasn't repaired properly? Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: NoBars on December 20, 2016, 03:36:30 am
No. Do you have aftermarket fenders or rings now? Body damage that wasn't repaired properly?
I'd assume aftermarket rings, I am pretty sure oem fenders, and both fenders have the same thing. If you look at the gap between the ring and the fender there is some funkiness going on on the fender to bucket area. Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: Zach Gomulka on December 22, 2016, 16:48:13 pm How can you tell? Yeah, horn grills. They are about 1 1/2" away from the fender beading. On aftermarket fenders they are much further away and lower down. Title: Re: Can someone explain SB12s to me? Post by: Zach Gomulka on December 22, 2016, 19:49:24 pm Here's a great example of it. It's one of those things that annoy the hell out of me ::)
