Title: Building Boost on a stationary bug. Post by: Garrick Clark on April 30, 2017, 11:47:13 am Hi guys.
So here it is. How do I build boost for fast starts. I've seen the turbo bugs building boost at the strip, with the pops and bangs etc. How is this done. My turbo is matched to my engine size so should spool up quick with the right method. Regards Garrick. P.s. Simple way is rpm 2 step switch wired to activate with handbrake or clutch pedal/arm, when switch is activated it tells MSD/ECU etc to activate pre set rpm & pull some timing. what do you have for ignition control ?

I only have an unlocked 003 dizzy with petronix 3 module and matching coil. 10* idle 28* total. Water INJ , no pinging,95 octane fuel. Title: Re: Building Boost on a stationary bug. Post by: richie on April 30, 2017, 20:15:23 pm Ok most aftermarket ignitions like MSD have a high end rev limiter, a 2 step is a second limiter you can set to your required rpm that will hold the engine at that rpm for launching, on a N/A car this is all you need to set, but on a turbo car retarding ignition while on this rpm limiter so it burns more in exhaust spools the turbo really quickly and builds boost with no load on it, some set ups add fuel while doing this as well.

Post by: Garrick Clark on May 07, 2017, 09:40:36 am Yesterday I changed my actuator for a stronger one. Got loads of boost and the engine lost 3 and 4 cylinder. So me thinking the worst I stripped it down. found nothing apart from lots of fuel in the cylinders. I think that the extra boost is producing extra fuel PSI and must have overcome the carb and flooded it.
O well. I can now fit the uprated clutch now its out. |
