Title: some music tunes in a cal looker Post by: wolfswest on October 08, 2007, 08:40:00 am Hi guys,
I know that most of you don’t like music in there car (only the sweet music of the IDA’s roaring) but I’m a music man so I really want to have some tunes in my car. I want to install a more or less period radio. So I decided to go for an 8 track player. Any comments, do’s and don’ts. Some models or brands that are recommended, maybe some pictures of dashboards with 8 tracks installed or even 8 track players for sale? Dem Title: Re: some music tunes in a cal looker Post by: Carlos De Alba on October 08, 2007, 16:52:38 pm 8 tracks rock...... My friend Hector Bonilla has an 8 track on his 67 and it sounds nice... i'm thinking of a cool 70s radio with a DIN connection so i can connect an mp3 player. but can you connect decent speakers on an old radio? but well, it's not my top priority at the moment ;) Title: Re: some music tunes in a cal looker Post by: Carlos De Alba on October 08, 2007, 19:55:55 pm thanks! are 8 track players always just 8 track players or do you have also models that also are a regular am/fm radio? That is pretty sweet. If I was going to put a radio in my car that is the way I would do it. Right now though the AM radio just fills the hole in the dash. --louis Title: Re: some music tunes in a cal looker Post by: Zach Gomulka on October 09, 2007, 02:27:27 am I love the nostalgia of 8-track players . I did not want to buy any of those round disc players in '87 and just stuck with a cassette player. Recently i added a cd changer in the trunk.
Title: Re: some music tunes in a cal looker Post by: Lanny Hussey on October 09, 2007, 04:08:21 am I have an AM/FM radio out of a Volvo P1800, late 60's. It fit the stock 67 dash using the VW bezel/knobs. I drove the car today, FM blaring through the stock single speaker in the dash. It sounds suprisingly good, similar to my Tivoli at home.

Title: Re: some music tunes in a cal looker Post by: wolfswest on October 09, 2007, 09:32:50 am Yeah,
Now I found a connector so you can plug in your ipod in a old model radio with a 6 or 7 pins din connection in the back. If you look for a 60-ies radio, does these radios have these connectors? Or are only the “expensive” models equipped with this din connector of are these kind of connectors only on 70-ies or maybe 80-ies radios?
