Title: Wade's bitchin' black '67 street & strip car?
Post by: Jim Ratto on October 08, 2007, 20:29:50 pm
Who remembers this car? I think it was in the MacAttack issue of Hot VW's (?)
Beautiful black 67, 911 alloys, bad ass IDA motors, if I remember correctly...1 for street and one for strip. Car was timeless.
Maybe somebody (hiny hint....fabs ;D) can scan some pics and the article?

Thank you.

Jim

This is the car that has "it" for me. I've always loved this car. I still keep this issue of HotVWs in my bathroom, the one with Cory Mac's funny car Ghia on the cover.

Yep, that was a cool ride!  There was another picture of that car in a tech article (clutches I think) that showed it doing a HUGE wheelie.  As I recall, he was buddies with Mike Smith

I may be mistaken but I think this car is running around in the City of Orange. It has a 1776 or an 1835? ish motor. The kid who drives it is kind of a squirrel. Greiner at Proformance has done some work on it. Glenn

I remember that car being featured too, and it was very inspirational. Loved the interior and the fact it could lift the front wheels and I can recall thinking how cool it would be to have one hot engine, let alone two.
As for the interior in  Sonja Boswick's Black '67 - it never meant anything to me.
Although what that has to do with anything, I dunno?

Interesting. The license plate suggests that this was one of the very first '67 Beetles to be registered in California. If, in fact, those are the original plates to the car. Forgive me, I've been a license plate fanatic since I was in first grade (1968).

Carry on.

I'd venture to say this car was cooler than Berglar.

what's the big deal? This car isn't laden down with heaters, water squirters, and the 7.5:1 motor. This car has everythign needed to kick ass and nothing more. Plus it's a '67 that somebody was kind enough to leave the chrome on.

Funny, but it's downright pathetic that I knew what it was without consulting a Berg catalog. ;D

I would concur. It is so clean and simple, not an over done Prima Donna like alot of the cars lately.
