Title: Remote original oil cooler mounts Post by: Bryan67 on November 19, 2017, 02:46:01 am https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2118167
Interesting. I`m not sure if this is a good idea or not though. Title: Re: Remote original oil cooler mounts Post by: Taylor on November 19, 2017, 04:04:36 am I thought about doing that but the passeges seemed smaller than the aftermarket ones. This would go well with one of those dune buggy adapters that goes where the stock cooler goes to get the heat away from the motor. Used with the stock oil pressure plungers.

i would perfer a different fitting as the bajo fitting. something like a angled piece on a case or oil filter. but it could be the same tread. maybe the two fittings on the same side, but i think that can involve a whole different design and machining process. Title: Re: Remote original oil cooler mounts Post by: Martin S. on November 20, 2017, 20:36:02 pm I'd like to know how well they work. Given that a single Setrab will give a 20F drop in oil pressure, how do these compare?
Title: Re: Remote original oil cooler mounts Post by: spoolin70 on November 20, 2017, 22:21:53 pm Hi Martin
Do you mean a 20F drop in temperature or 20psi drop in pressure ? I have a few setrab coolers so I'm interested plus my engine has no provision for an oil cooler in the fan housing. . Thanks Darren Title: Re: Remote original oil cooler mounts Post by: Martin S. on November 21, 2017, 00:11:03 am I have a single Setrab mounted up by the usual oil filter location (alongside the filter) and it really works, especially with the fan running. I can watch the temp drop when I turn on the fan. When I stop after a highway drive, the whole rear of the fender is warm to the touch from the heat coming off the cooler.
John C. says in our cars the single is good for a 20 degree F drop in oil temps, and the dual cooler is good for a 35 degree F drop. http://vwparts.aircooled.net/category-s/887.htm |
