Title: Gauges
Post by: louisb on October 11, 2007, 16:03:54 pm
What gauges do you run in your car? And for oil temp/pressure, head temp etc, where did you mount the sender? Just trying to get a feel for what other folks are running in thier cars. I plan to add some gauges in the near future to the '67. My current thoughts are (VDO Series 1) gas, oil temp, oil pressure, volts & head temp.  (And an Autometer tach.)

Thanks,

In addition to my old faithfull sidesweep autometer tach, I have only run a Berg shorty temp sender in the type 3 oil filler block of plate on my 54. I have an old mechanical Stewart Warner oil pressure gauge that I am going to put in this winter though.
For the new project car I have a bunch of old VDO cockpit gauges..

Hello,

I have VDO's vintage gauges in my Callook 66, take a look! They are all in full working order.  The gauges are 6 volt and they are working in my 12 volt car, due to an adaptor (minimum cost).  I might have a tree-fold set (oil temp, oil pressure and Amp) for sale in the near future.  For pictures, please mail me on lowlight@scarlet.be.

Good luck on finding what you really like most!

Here's my set-up.

VDO Jet Cockpits in my '67 except for a VDO speedo from a special edition Super Beetle.

Speedo
Gas Gauge
Voltmete
Ammeter
Oil pressure
Oil Temp
Tachometer

Best thing was firing that car up and having all those gauges waving "Hi" to you!

i envy your dash Speedwell. i think it looks so good. i am not the biggest fan of the empi gauges though... i prefer VDO's, but love that steeringwheel. much nicer as the flat4 i am running now in my opinion.
and i need to get the wires sorted a bit better. i have thought about doing that yesterday, but didn't get to it.
