Title: Autometer Tach with a ECU?
Post by: UltraOrange67-2443 on March 03, 2018, 22:46:26 pm
Anyone running a standard ignition Autometer Tach with a ECU?

Did you need the 9117 Adapter?

Cheers, Nick

Hi Nick

My old engine used a MSD 6btm and distributor and when I changed over to DTA,  I think the Autometer was just connected to the tacho ECU output. We certainly didn't use the adaptor you mention.

My new engine will be using a Omex 710 and I plan to connect  the same Autometer to the ECU output again - providing I can resist the urge to get a digital dash of course  ;)

Surely your ECU has an output connection for tachometer ?

Regards
Darren

Hi Darren

Yes my Omex 600 has a tach output, just wanted to check with other people.

Cheers, Nick

Found out that Omex make a Tach driver for £18.

My mate has a LS V8 and is having trouble with his Autometer tach and he has found out they need to be set on 4 Cylinder setting to work.

A lot cheaper than the Autometer version - https://www.autometer.com/tach-adapter.html

$104.95  :o

Sounds like a might need a driver too then, thanks for the info Nick.

I presume your using wasted spark or separate coils then ?

I'm using wasted spark MSD Ford type coil pack.
