Title: waterboxer case. Post by: Bad bug on July 07, 2018, 18:36:24 pm Good day All,
I am doing an oxyboxer engine for my bug and was wondering what is the largest crank that can be placed in a waterboxer case with chevy journals. Title: Re: waterboxer case. Post by: Erlend / bug66 on July 07, 2018, 19:39:35 pm What crank are you going with?
They made 80 and 82mm WBX cranks. At least Oettinger made them. Title: Re: waterboxer case. Post by: bedjo78 on July 07, 2018, 19:43:44 pm I install 86 crank with fat alu rods. 88 with H rods will be in

I will be running a 80mm waterboxer crank in the engine with webcam 86b camshaft, latest version of the los panchitos head, 5.6 inch H beam rods, 9.6:1 compression ratio, 48mm dellorto trijet carbs (37 vents) and 1 5/8 exhaust system. I am planning to make 170HP with this engine. Title: Re: waterboxer case. Title: Re: waterboxer case. Post by: PPRMicke on July 14, 2018, 20:29:00 pm 4" pistons ?
170 hp ? Why as little as 170 The blocks can handle more than 330 hp /// Micke Title: Re: waterboxer case. Why as little as 170 The blocks can handle more than 330 hp /// Micke I know what i initially wanted to do was build a 4" inch bore engine with the 80mm crank. The heads would have been the waterboxer head but the machinist wasn't keen on doing it so i went with this instead for the first build out. I know the case can take a lot of power skinne beetle has proved it. Title: Re: waterboxer case. Udo would love an 86mm crank in the case but at this point i understand that you can't stroke relieve a waterboxer crank beyond 80mm without issues Title: Re: waterboxer case. Udo would love an 86mm crank in the case but at this point i understand that you can't stroke relieve a waterboxer crank beyond 80mm without issues Ok Udo i looked at your post again. The reason for not going with an original case is they are too expensive to build a stroker and they just aren't that strong. I wanted a strong case to build a strong engine no matter how hard i looked i kept coming back to the waterboxer case. I have two other engines to build for my beetle a t4 and a waterboxer that will be possibly a 2.6ltr the t4 will hopefully be 2.8ltr. |
