Title: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on September 21, 2018, 19:14:47 pm Lots of work, time, money
Plenty of talented people involved. The guys at custom motor bodies who did the paint work and Fintan, zack,Paul who did accident repairs/metal work. I just paid some bills and bolted it back together Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: Neil Davies on September 22, 2018, 19:29:41 pm I liked it in yellow but I love it in red - think I've said that before! Hell of a transformation!
How were the repairs done? If Fintan is FH Ellis then I guess that the front wing and rear quarter panel were beaten back into shape, but the roof looked to be the most daunting. Did you get a body cut from another car or did the guys make it from scratch? I'd like to see photos if you've got them Dave, partly because I want to see how the professionals would tackle that sort of repair and they'd also be really useful to show my students at school! Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on September 26, 2018, 20:28:20 pm Thanks Neil, after all the work involved in repairing the car I decided to make it my own.
I don?t have many pictures of the repair work. The car was repaired using early NOS panels and and some parts from half a donor car I brought in Sicily, the roof was hammered out. The car was badly damaged in the crash and the B pillar was twisted from the impact. Luckily the Cotsweld roll cage kept the rest of the car ridged and the body sort of folded round it. Unfortunately I can?t take the credit for the repairs, I only did the nice bit of bolting it back together Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on October 17, 2018, 21:52:58 pm Took the car racing last weekend. The low compression 2276cc ran a 13.2@104 in full street trim and radials at the less than perfect Crail Raceway. I also had some fun on the road too!

After the amount of repair work needed I decided I needed to make it my car. It?s a crazy car, I always used to enjoy chasing down the cars that got a better start than me with the turbo motor. Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on October 18, 2018, 21:39:22 pm that town looks like Aberdeen ??? ;) me and my cars are no longer welcome in the granite city! Glad you are going to build this after all the shit you put up with. Will be a monster :o Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on February 18, 2019, 22:48:44 pm Thanks Lee. It’s cost me plenty of time and money. It will be a nice road engine
Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: LGK on February 19, 2019, 00:03:41 am What are you going to use for cylinders? AA or something else?
Good luck with your built, love the red color on the fiat ;) Rgds Steve@flat4to6.com Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on February 19, 2019, 07:39:53 am I have a set of AA cylinders, It might have taken him 4years to send them but I actually got those!!!
Thanks, I like the red too. It goes well with the car Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on May 21, 2019, 10:31:04 am Not much progress recently. I stopped stealing parts from the fiat for my bug and refitted a dynamo
[attachment=1] I also converted my bug to IRS. Thanks to Pete for the tracking /camber gauges and Richie for the loan of the jigs [attachment=2] Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on August 01, 2019, 20:32:59 pm Finally got this out the garage again! Quick check over, washed it and then drove it ;D

Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on August 02, 2019, 17:01:37 pm Thanks Stretch. This one gets cleaned a bit more than the bug :D it felt a bit strange to drive too
Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: UltraOrange67-2443 on August 03, 2019, 19:38:31 pm Still building the 4" motor?
Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on August 04, 2019, 15:16:18 pm Still building the 4" motor? Built it months ago Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on September 27, 2019, 21:00:21 pm Weathers getting worse so it’s back in the garage till next year
[attachment=1] Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: Frallan on September 29, 2019, 09:03:04 am Finally getting to build my engine 7 years later than planned after replacing all the parts Jeff Denham never supplied me even though they were already paid for. [attachment=1] Tell me more about those heads. Are these something you paid for and ever got? Looks like angle flows but then not..... Built for different kind of manifold. Mikuni carbs comes to my mind when I see that. Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on September 29, 2019, 14:25:13 pm They are angle flow heads, one of the few parts actually got after waiting 4 years.
I still have loads of parts missing which he never supplied and I have had to buy again. Sump, rockers, oil pump, pushrods and tubes, magneto, carb linkage, tinware, camshaft and cam gear, lifters, all crankshaft hardware, clutch pressure plate and disc, cylinder head studs, all the bearings . Probably a few more things too Jeffery Denham, liar, thief and not to be trusted. Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on October 24, 2019, 18:35:52 pm My Winter project . Nothing to do to the fiat so I’m going to be working on this. I plan to Refit the interior, change the front seats, loose the MH DOTS for a set of radials, I did contemplate cutting out the cage but decided against it. I can drive the car anywhere in its current set up but now I’m going to make it more of a road car
[attachment=1] Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on October 27, 2019, 11:18:48 am Not sure this will pass MSA tech inspection but I want to make sure I get my new seats in the best position.
[attachment=1] Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: leec on October 27, 2019, 13:58:47 pm I think they are probably stronger than some steel efforts I've seen ;D
What you doing with your old bug seats? Lee Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on October 27, 2019, 16:52:31 pm Probably! I’m just messing around with seat heights/ position before I start making something.
Don’t know about the seats probably put them on the shelf till I need them Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on November 03, 2019, 17:04:00 pm New seats and frames finished! Big thanks to Danny for the loan of his welder and work shop. Not going to refit the interior now, Too heavy and I don’t think it’s going make much difference so I will continue using ear plugs.
[attachment=1] [attachment=2] Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: Fiatdude on November 10, 2019, 06:59:44 am Should of lowered those seats down about 1-2cm so you could of put 3-4 cm of foam between those seats and your bum for those moderate length drives ;D ::) ;D ::)…. a little experience speaking here....
Of course you could just put a real nice Sparco seat in for you and leaving the Kirkey for the passenger.... Cuts down on the number of times the wife will want to come along LOL... Title: Re: Another fiat 600 Post by: DaveN on November 10, 2019, 20:19:50 pm I trial fitted a friend’s seat
