Title: sticky oil relief valve in a new case
Post by: alex d on October 19, 2007, 08:30:59 am
(yes it's THAT 1914 I am still building  :D)

yesterday I tried the relief valves in their bores, to see that they slid correctly...and the back one does not! If you push it up to the end it won't come down by its own weight, which doesn't seem quite right  >:(  what would you guys recommend?

Is it to small or to big? Any burr around the drilled holes in there?
It will be under pressure in operation but binding is never nice.

no burrs that I can see, but the finish of the far end of the bore looked questionable, and pushing the piston with my small finger I could feel some side-to-side play  ???

did I mention that the case was supplied by the same head porter that sent me heads 10cc larger than I ordered and that I specifically told this person to check the oil relief bores?  >:(

You Need to Check the Oil Relief Bores real good A Lot of the New Cases Got threw Quality Control, the top of oil relief Bore has a step on some of the new Cases it has to be machined flat or loss of oil pressure can occur,  This same thing happened to Me I took my Case To Rimco to have it checked out  and they told me about this problem on new cases
