and then strip it, cut it up and then reweld it.......

Looks like a pretty nice start to a T3. Do you have a set of window blanks or are you going to have a set fabbed up? I actually like that color on the car. Put your logo on the side. You need an original set of burners or a set of DDS rims for it.

This car was super clean to start with, went with puppy to hannover to pick it up. even tried to convince him to call russel to say it was shite so i could have it!

Very cool Russel  8) looks like some top work going in on that one . Do I take it that B+ didn't quite work out  ;) and the draw of a fast square back was too strong  ;D 
 I will be keeping a keen eye on this one , looks like a top addition to the Ritchie collection .
I reckon you need to have a word with altorque and his English wheel , cut the back off that airstream , stick some hinges on the off cut (747 cargo jet stylee) and have yourself one cool trailer for your new project  8)

Bit slow are you not...... thats the 1st addition i wanted, see below.

Russel, your cars previous owner is a friend of mine. If i recall correctly he got it from the widow of the first owner somewhere in the south of Germany. Seems like ARPM motors came as an option in early Type 3s....

Yes it is. Engine and car was sold separately in the late 80:ies. The car was then raced by a couple of different owners with different engines. It was bought back by the original builder some years ago. It´s currently without engine and gearbox.

Good to hear that nice cars like this are still in good hands . Maybe someone find an engine and gearbox for it  ;)
A picture from germany next to mine  :)  This was great when the swedish cars came to race in germany !!

i think i still prefer a proper van with the pannels rather than covered up sides....

They are original VW Type 3 Window blanls from a type 3 van.

very nice work and i really love the project!

but i personally would have widened the type3 lid on top as is pretty small and not wide enough to work on the engine... sorry a bit late i guess...

otherwise i wouldn't mind to be seen in that car!!  ;D

How are they held in??

normally spot welded to the window frame but we are going to bond them.

I thought they were held in like normal glass with the rubbers . Had a guy at my old club with a set fitted in his square back and I could have sworn they were held in with the original rubbers with an insert to spread the rubber a bit as the steel is a bit thinner than glass . Don't know if that helps any Russell .

whoow, turned out very good Russell.

this car was sweet, it had a good/not so good spot depending if you were the owner or not.  The crowd could get so close to it, that it wouldn't surprise me if it gets scratched.  There were some real morons at the show.  Alex Spring had his car hit by a roof rack!

I loved the original seats, and the interior was lovely :)

I lost count of how many times I moved the posts away from Alex's, The Black Bitch and Russells! Only to see people put them right next to the cars minutes later  :o

yeah at one point the pole was almost in the engine bay.

I watch the car also this weekend, and it is absolute beautiful!
